COMMISSIONED OFFICER TRAINING ACADEMY
Basic Officer Course Dates
During Office Basic Course (OBC), officers will receive an introduction to the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service. Emphasis is placed on the Corps as a uniformed service, military bearing and courtesy, career development, promotions, leave, compensation, awards, resource utilization, and readiness and deployment are some of the topics introduced during this two-week course. Officers successfully completing this course are eligible to earn the Commissioned Corps Training Ribbon.
Enrollment in the OBC is limited to new calls to active duty. Registration is through your agency liaison. Agencies other than Indian Health Service should use the list posted on the Commissioned Corps Management Information System web site. Click the “About Us” tab and select “SG PAC and Commissioned Corps Agency Liaison Listing” for the most current list.
