BASIC OFFICER TRAINING COURSE (BOTC)

Officers attending the Basic Officer Training Course (BOTC) will receive an introduction to the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Emphasis is placed on the Commissioned Corps as a Uniformed Service. Open to all officers, the course is designed primarily to assist the transition of new and Senior COSTEP officers to the Commissioned Corps. Military bearing and courtesy, career development, promotions, leave, compensation, awards, and standards of conduct are some of the many topics introduced during this course. Officers successfully completing this course will satisfy the prerequisite for enrollment in the Independent Officer Training Course (IOTC) thus making them eligible to earn the Commissioned Corps Training Ribbon. Participants must attend the entire program to receive credit for attendance.
