(Newly
commissioned on or after January 1, 2001)
|
This is the 5-day BOTC program for those officers on extended active duty with a call to active duty date (CAD) on or after January 1, 2001. Officers planning to attend should secure supervisory approval, use the provided email link to request participation (registration) and arrange travel orders, transportation and room reservations. Seats in each class are limited. An officer should not consider him/herself enrolled until notified. All attending officers must be registered. Registration confirmation will be provided in the form of a reply to the officer's e-mail- registration request.
|
|
Note: Officers with a CAD prior to January 1, 2001, are to register for the 3-day BOTC , not this 5-day program. Junior Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (COSTEP) participants should consider registering for the 1-day COSTEP Orientation.

Officers attending the 5-day BOTC will receive an introduction to the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Emphasis is placed on the corps as a Uniformed Service. This course is designed primarily to assist the transition of new and Senior COSTEP officers to the corps. Military bearing and courtesy, career development, promotions, leave, compensation, awards, and resource utilization are some of the many topics introduced during this course. Officers successfully completing this course will satisfy the prerequisite for enrollment in the web-based Independent Officer Training Course (IOTC) with Examination Series, thus making them eligible to earn the Commissioned Corps Training Ribbon. Current Course Offerings
There are no Five Day programs currently scheduled.
Please consider the Three Day program which may serve as an interim
alternative. We are working diligently to accommodate officers’
needs in light of the dissolution of the Division of Commissioned
Personnel and the creation of the Division of Commissioned Corps Training
and Career Development within the Office of Commissioned Corps Operations.
We are excited about the transformation and the Commissioned Officer
Training Academy’s role. It is always recommended that you check the Web page
periodically for information updates. Thank you for your interest,
patience, and support.
* It is important to realize that during this exciting transformation of the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, BOTC classes must be advertised as non-reimbursable. Officers attending will not be eligible to receive reimbursement from the Office of Commissioned Corps Operations (OCCO)/Commissioned Officer Training Academy (COTA) for travel, lodging, per diem, etc., as was offered in the past. Please note: In the future, COTA plans to have this momentary monetary issue resolved. |
