Update on 2006 Assimilation Applications

The deadline for assimilation applications for 2006 ended on 15 February. The Office of Commissioned Corps Operations (OCCO) has processed all received application packages postmarked on or before that date. Both assimilation application acceptance and denial letters have been sent out by mail, and a copy of the acceptance letter can be found in the individual officer’s electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF).

OCCO will perform administrative reviews throughout the assimilation process. Officers will be removed from the assimilation pool if they do not meet the following requirements during any administrative review.

All officers are required to:
  1. Have a current Commissioned Officers’ Effectiveness Report (COER) with an overall D or E score on file with OCCO.
  2. Meet category specific educational requirements including current licensure/certification (as applicable) for Regular Corps appointment (refer to Category Exhibits in Subchapter CC23.3, INSTRUCTION 4, “Appointment Standards and Appointment Boards,” of the Commissioned Corps Personnel Manual (See http://dcp.psc.gov/PDF_docs/2334.pdf).
  3. Have on file with the Medical Affairs Branch (MAB), Office of Commissioned Corps Support Services, both a 5-year physical and 1-year ‘Report of Medical History.’ The ‘Report of Medical History’ will be checked for compliance when the package returns from Senate confirmation. Officers are encouraged to submit the ‘Report of Medical History’ annually.
  4. Meet the Basic level of force readiness (refer to the Office of Force Readiness and Deployment Web site at http://ccrf.hhs.gov/ccrf/)
  5. Have background investigation completed or paperwork started.
All officers are encouraged to continually review their information to ensure the above requirements are maintained.
