On 30 March 2006, CDR Brad Austin was presented the American College of Healthcare Executives’ (ACHE)
District Six Governor’s Award in Chicago, IL. The award was presented by Brigadier General David A.
Rubenstein, the U.S. Army’s Assistant Surgeon General for Force Sustainment, U.S. Medical Command. District
Six is composed of the Uniformed Services and Veterans Affairs. |

CDR Austin is the first officer of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service to receive
this prestigious award, and was recognized for his contributions for expanding ACHE’s presence in the U.S.
Public Health Service. |

This year, CDR Austin serves as the Chair of the Health Administration Professional Advisory Group, part
of the Health Services Professional Advisory Committee. For the past several years, he has volunteered
his leadership to ACHE by leading facilitated discussions to junior officers and their civilian counterparts
in preparing for their board examinations. CDR Austin is board certified in healthcare administration by
ACHE. |
