Commissioned Corps Personnel Policy Memorandum (PPM) PPM 05-014, “Vaccine Administration by Dental Officers in Emergencies,” dated 9 June 2005. |

Synopsis: During times of war and public health emergencies, dental officers in the Commissioned Corps of the
U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) may be utilized to assist the Department in carrying out its responsibilities
regarding vaccine administration. Corps dental officers are advised through PPM 05-014 that upon completion and
certification of specified training and education established by the Office of Force Readiness and Deployment,
dental officers are authorized to administer vaccines as part of emergency response activities.
