| Category benchmarks have been developed by each of the categories to assist officers
                      with career progression. These are guidelines that can be used to assist in career
                      guidance and planning. These are not
                          requirements, but are intended as recommendations only. The
                      Promotion Board members use the benchmarks to assist in determining which officers
                      are “best qualified” for promotion. These benchmarks assist the board members in
                      scoring each officer during promotion review. Questions on benchmarks should be
                      directed to the 
                          Chief Professional Officers and 
                              Professional Advisory Committee Chairs. |
