Environmental Health Officers PAC Membership – Call for Nominations

The Environmental Health Officer Professional Advisory Committee (EHOPAC) is currently accepting nominations for membership for 2006. Members are elected for a 3-year term and may serve a maximum of two terms. The election for new members will be conducted at the fall 2005 EHOPAC meeting.

Openings will be available for members representing the Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, and Health Resources and Services Administration (one seat each). One seat will be available for environmental health officers from either the Program Support Center or the Office of the Secretary (e.g., Office of Commissioned Corps Operations, Office of Commissioned Corps Force Management, Office of Force Readiness and Deployment). Two seats will be available for the Indian Health Service. Also, one seat will be available for an at-large representative who can be from any Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Operating Division/Staff Division/non-HHS organization to which officers of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) are assigned.

Corps officers and civil service employees who have already submitted their nominations do not need to resubmit unless there was a change in supervision since the original submission. In that case, a new form with the current supervisor’s signature must be submitted along with a current curriculum vitae (CV).

Regarding composition, the EHOPAC is currently under-represented by senior officers (O-6 officers with over 20 years of service) so we strongly encourage senior EHOs to apply.
