New JOAG Executive Committee and Membership Announced
 
The Junior Officer Advisory Group (JOAG) recently held elections for the 2005-2006 Executive Committee. The following new officers were selected:
 
  • Chair-Elect: LCDR Thomas Pryor, Nurse category, Indian Health Service (IHS)
  • Vice-Chair: LT Jane Bleuel, Dental category, IHS
  • Executive Secretary: LCDR Ernest Sullivent, Medical category, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
This year’s Chair is LT Claudine Samanic, Health Services category, National Institutes of Health. She served the previous year as Chair-Elect.

We have a number of committees and work groups, and always welcome new members. If you would like to get involved, please consider volunteering for one of the following:
 
COMMITTEES
 
Awards Committee: To facilitate the awards process and recognize junior officers for their accomplishments and commitment to the mission of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps).
 
Communications Committee: To facilitate the dissemination of Corps-related information to junior officers as well as enhance and maintain the JOAG Web site.
 
Membership Committee: To select, facilitate, and assist new members through the nomination and appointment processes.
 
Professional Development Committee: To identify issues, provide advice and guidance, and propose solutions to foster and promote junior officers as professional, proud, and principled Corps officers.
 
Policy and Procedures Committee: To establish guidelines and operating procedures governing the JOAG.
 
Recruitment and Retention Committee: To increase the number of junior officers in the Corps.
 
Welcoming Committee: To provide and disseminate information to newly commissioned junior officers.
 
WORKGROUPS
 
Publications Workgroup: To develop short articles geared towards junior officers.
 
Reserve Officers Association Liaison Workgroup: To enhance relationships with junior officers in our sister uniformed services.
 
Commissioned Officers Association (COA) Planning Workgroup: To plan and implement activities for junior officers during the COA annual meeting.
 
Fundraising Workgroup: Plan and conduct fundraising activities to benefit junior officers in the Corps.
