MOLC and APAOC Leadership Development Seminar
 
The Minority Officers Liaison Council (MOLC) and the Asian Pacific American Officers Committee (APAOC) are sponsoring a Leadership Development Seminar to be held 27 October 2005. This seminar is open to all officers of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) civilian employees. Please register by sending the following information to the point of contacts (POCs) listed below: rank/GS grade; name; contact information; and Operating Division, Staff Division, or non-HHS organization to which Corps officers are assigned.
 
The seminar will focus on:
  • Foundations and principles of leadership;
  • Understanding the core competencies in leadership development, goals, and vision; and
  • Creating and developing your leadership.
The seminar (a first in a planned series) will be held at 5516 Nicholson Lane, Building A, Suite 201, Kensington, MD 20895. The POCs for the event are LCDR Angela Shen, Vice-Chair, MOLC, at 301-827-6924 (shena@cber.fda.gov) and LCDR Soju Chang, Chair, APAOC, at 301-827-6048 (changs@cber.fda.gov).
 
The facilitator will be CDR Elise Young. CDR Young currently serves as a senior public health analyst with the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Office of Performance Review in the San Francisco Regional Division. Previously, she was with HRSA’s HIV/AIDS Bureau and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Office of Managed Care. She has served as Chair of MOLC and APAOC, and is member of the Health Services Professional Advisory Committee. Prior to joining the Corps, she spent 12 years in the private sector in administrative and management roles. CDR Young holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Hawaii.
