New Mileage Rate Effective 1 September 2005

The General Services Administration has increased the mileage reimbursement rate from 40.5 cents to 48.5 cents per mile for Federal employees who use a privately owned automobile while on official Government travel. This rate is effective as of September 1 and applies to official travel performed on or after that date. This rate increase affects only privately owned automobiles, not airplanes or motorcycles.
