Call for Nominations for the 2006 Scientist Officer of the Year Awards
Deadline date: 17 March 2006

The Scientist Professional Advisory Committee (SciPAC) established the Scientist of the Year Awards in 1995 to recognize officers in the Scientist category of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) whose professional career and work performance have resulted in significant contributions to the health of the Nation and to the mission of the Corps. The Derek Dunn Memorial Scientist Officer of the Year Award recognizes the career achievement of a senior-level officer, and the Young Scientist Officer of the Year Award acknowledges the contributions of a junior-level officer.

A committee composed of senior-level Scientist officers will select the award recipients. The Surgeon General, on behalf of the SciPAC, will present the awards at the national meeting of the Commissioned Officers Association. Recipients of the awards will receive a plaque signed by the Surgeon General and the Chief Scientist Officer as well as a special letter of recognition from the SciPAC. Nomination instructions are located on the USPHS Scientist Officer Web site at http://www.usphs-scientist.org/
