Uniform Q&A

Q:  How many bracelets may I wear with my uniform?

A:  Female officers are permitted to wear one wristwatch and one wrist bracelet while in uniform. Articles of jewelry are to be conservative, in good taste, and not faddish or eccentric. Jewelry shall not present a safety or foreign object risk hazard. Ankle bracelets are not authorized while in uniform.

Q:  At my organization, the officers wear the black safety boots with their ‘salt & pepper’ (Service Blue) uniform. Is this authorized?

A:  No. The black safety boot is not authorized for wear with the Service Blue uniform. Only the black dress shoe (leather pump for women) and black service shoe (laced leather or synthetic oxford for men and women) are authorized with this uniform. The black safety boot can only be worn with the Working Khaki uniform and the Winter Working Blue uniform when authorized by the local uniform authority.

Q:  Do I have to wear my ribbons with my daily uniform?

A:  Ribbons and medals are a required component of the uniform except on the Working Khaki, Winter Working Blue, and Indoor Duty White uniforms. If you have more than one row of ribbons, you have the option of wearing only the highest row (referred to as your high three).

Q:  When indoors, how is the garrison cap tucked into the belt?

A:  The garrison cap can be tucked on either the right or the left hip under the belt. The opening of the cap should face to the back. The top ¼ of the cap is tucked into the belt. When worn on the left, the mini cap device is visible and when worn on the right, the rank is visible.
