Reminder: U.S. Flag Patch is Not for General Wear by Corps Officers |
|
This is a reminder for officers of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) who are still wearing the U.S. Flag patch on the Battle Dress Uniform
as authorized in 2005 for Hurricane Katrina.
|
|
According to
Personnel Operations Memorandum (POM) 06-003, “U.S. Flag, Special Skill,
Unit Patches,” http://dcp.psc.gov/eccis/documents/POM06_003.pdf
the wear of the U.S. Flag patch is only authorized for Corps officers assigned or
detailed to Department of Defense (DoD) organizational units, and is not
for general wear by Corps officers.
|
|
Also, for those Corps officers assigned or detailed to DoD, the only U.S. Flag patch
that is authorized is
1 13/16 inches high x 3 ½ inches wide, reversed field, full
color, and has a gold border. The wear of a subdued or olive drab flag is not authorized.
