The Resource Guide for USPHS Officers Getting Married or Getting Divorced, and for Dependents Surviving the Death of a USPHS Officer is an unofficial guide designed to assist officers in the USPHS in navigating and understanding the various policies and resources relevant to each topic.  Topics include, but are not limited to, changing your name, enrolling spouse/dependent(s) in benefits, updating Direct Access, tax considerations, transferring educational benefits and survivor benefits.  The Guide was prepared by the Junior Officer Advisory Group (JOAG) in collaboration with the Commissioned Corps Women’s Issues Advisory Board (CCWIAB).

This document, developed by the Commissioned Corps Women's Issues Advisory Board (CCWIAB), is designed to serve as an unofficial guide to assist expectant parents in the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps in navigating and understanding the various policies and resources relevant to pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. The guide is organized into sequential parts, based upon the unique phase and roles of parenthood.

          The following are the changes for this version.

            -Addition of mental health resources section

-Updated waiver section with recent MAB guidance

-Addition of weight standards information and language

-Addition of uniform info related to ODUs and where to purchase uniforms.

-Update of maternity leave policy details

-Update of DEERS/TRICARE enrollment changes (effective 2018)

-Addition of info on TRICARE coverage for breastfeeding counseling

-Addition of details to breastfeeding pump/supply coverage changes (effective 2018)

-Addition of photographs of women in all maternity uniform options and Guide cover photo

-Addition of overseas language
