LCDR Drew Katherine, M.S.

EPAC Awards & Recognition Subcommittee Vice Chair

LCDR Katherine started his Commissioned Corps career in 2018 as an Engineer Reviewer for the Center for Tobacco Products in Silver Spring, MD. There he reviewed tobacco manufacturers product submissions and determined if those products increased risk to the public health. In September of 2020, LCDR Katherine transferred to the FDA Office of Emergency Operations in Silver Spring, MD. He currently leads FDA’s public health emergency preparedness and response activities involving FDA regulated products and facilities during natural and man-made disaster events. 

 In his short PHS career, LCDR Katherine has deployed in support of the COVID-19 response, the Independence Day Support Mission, and a Remote Area Medical mission. Most recently, he served as the Planning Section Chief during UC Mission Artemis.

LCDR Katherine is a native of Memphis, TN. He graduated from the University of Memphis in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2012, he earned his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Memphis. He is a current member of D.C. Commissioned Officers Association, the Junior Officer Advisory Group, and the Black Commissioned Officers Advisory Group. LCDR Katherine enjoys watching multiple different sports, anime, cycling, and traveling with his wife.
