Selection of Medical and Dietitian Chief Professional Officers Announced The Acting Surgeon General, RADM Steven Galson, is pleased to announce the selection of the next Chief Professional Officers (CPOs) for the Medical and Dietitian categories: CAPT Claire Helminiak, MD, MPH, is CPO (select) Medical category, assigned to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Emergency Response, Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations, where she serves as the Coordinating Director for Medical Programs. Her previous assignment was on detail as the Medical Advisor for Homeland Security Affairs, Office of the Vice President of the United States. CAPT Edith Clark, MBA, RD, CDE, is CPO (select) Dietitian category, assigned to the Indian Health Service, Phoenix Indian Medical Center, where she serves as the Director, Nutrition Services and Internship Director, Southwestern Dietetic Internship Consortium. Her previous assignment was as Community Dietitian with the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. The tenure for these CPOs (selects) will begin 1 June 2009. RADM David Rutstein and CAPT Janice Huy will continue in their roles as CPOs of the Medical and Dietitian Category, respectively, until the end of May.
