I cannot imagine a Corps Dietitian more actively dedicated to our Corps values and deserving of this award. Having served with a wide array of Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Army personnel during my 35 year career, I have seen none who surpass this officer’s energy and commitment to excellence, leadership, and service.”

| … to recognize a Dietitian/Nutritionist officer who has made extraordinary contributions to the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and the Dietitian/Nutritionist category with regard to responding to critical events impacting the health of others including outstanding emergency preparedness, disaster response, and contributions to national or international public health threats.
LCDR Merel Kozlosky, MS, RD “… due to her demonstrated level of proficiency and dedication, and her application of unique skills during her 3-week deployment at the College Station Texas Federal Medical Station following Hurricane Ike, LCDR Kozlosky exemplified all of the ideals espoused by the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service in this deployment.”
