The American Indian and Alaska Native Commissioned Officers Advisory Committee (AIANCOAC) is seeking members for a 3-year term beginning 1 January 2011. The AIANCOAC provides advice and consultation to the Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service and the Minority Officers Liaison Council (MOLC) on professional and personnel issues related to American Indians and Alaska Natives in Federal service (both officers of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) civil service employees). Selections, which are based on the nominee’s commitment to public health activities and specified criteria in the AIANCOAC Charter (e.g., Operating Division representation, discipline, gender, etc.), are made by the AIANCOAC and approved by the Office of the Surgeon General. AIANCOAC members are expected to obtain the necessary support from the HHS Operating Division, Staff Division, or non-HHS organization to which assigned to attend twelve scheduled meetings per year via teleconference. A self-nomination form (which includes a space for supervisory approval) is available on the AIANCOAC Web site at: http://www.aiancoac.freeservers.com/ Please complete the self-nomination form and send it along with a current curriculum vitae and a cover letter describing how your specific experience and expertise will benefit the AIANCOAC.
