Call for Nominations for D/N PAC’s 2009 Annual Senior Dietitian Award

PURPOSE: The purpose of this award is to recognize a Senior dietitian/nutritionist who has made significant impact on the Nation’s health. The award is presented annually and consists of a framed certificate or plaque. In addition, the selected individual may also be nominated for either a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) civil service or Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) award, as appropriate.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The nominee must be a Senior dietitian/nutritionist (O-5 and above Corps officer, or GS-12 and above civil service professional (or equivalent in alternative hiring mechanisms) who has been employed by the Federal government for a minimum of 1 year during their current tour. For a Corps officer to be considered, the individual must be in the Dietitian category. Both civil service and Corps dietitians/nutritionists must currently be listed as Registered Dietitians with the American Dietetic Association’s Commission on Dietetic Registration to be eligible. The individual must not have won this award previously. The Chief Professional Officer and the PAC Chair of the Dietitian category are not eligible during his/her term of office.

Call for Nominations for D/N PAC’s 2009 Annual Junior Dietitian Award

PURPOSE: The purpose of this award is to promote future leadership and recognize a Junior dietitian/nutritionist who has made a significant impact on the Nation’s health. This award is presented annually and consists of a framed certificate or plaque. In addition, the selected individual may also be nominated for either a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) civil service or Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) award, as appropriate.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The nominee must be a Junior dietitian/nutritionist (O-4 and below Corps officer, or GS-11 and below civil service professional (or equivalent in alternative hiring mechanisms) who has been employed by the Federal government for a minimum of 1 year during their current tour. For a Corps officer to be considered, the individual must be in the Dietitian category. Both civil service and Corps dietitians/nutritionists must currently be a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association’s Commission on Dietetic Registration to be eligible. The individual must not have won this award previously within the past 3 years. The Chief Professional Officer and the PAC Chair of the Dietitian category are not eligible during his/her term of office.

Call for Nominations for D/N PAC’s 2009 D/N PAC Responder of the Year Award

PURPOSE: The Dietitian/Nutritionist Responder of the Year Award was established to recognize a D/N officer in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) who has made extraordinary contributions to the Corps and the Dietitian category with regard to responding to critical events impacting the health of others including outstanding emergency preparedness, disaster response, and contributions to national or international public health threats. 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  The nominee must be a Corps dietitian/nutritionist in the Dietitian category. The officer must be listed as a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association’s Commission on Dietetic Registration. The individual must not have won this award previously. All nominees must meet and maintain the Corps force readiness standards throughout the year. The Chief Professional Officer and the PAC Chair of the Dietitian category are not eligible during his/her term of office.

Call for Nominations for 2009 – 2011 D/N PAC Voting Member

As a voting member of the Dietitian/Nutritionist Professional Advisory Committee (D/N PAC) you will participate in representing all Corps officer dietitians in providing advice to the Surgeon General and the Chief Professional Officer on professional and personnel issues related to the Dietitian category. As per the D/N-PAC Charter, selections based on the nominee’s commitment to public health activities and specified criteria in the charter (e.g., organizational, discipline, gender and minority representation) as determined by the PAC Chair and Chief Dietitian Officer, and approved by the Surgeon General. Self-nominations are being solicited for individuals interested in serving on the D/N PAC for a 2-year term beginning 1 April 2009.

The completed nomination form and narrative must be submitted to the D/N PAC Chairperson no later than 31 December 2008.  A blank nomination form is available from LCDR Pamella Vodicka (pvodicka@hrsa.gov).

Call for Nominations for 2009-2010 D/N PAC Chair

As Chair of the Dietitian/Nutritionist Professional Advisory Committee (D/N PAC) you will be responsible for leading the D/N-PAC in our mission, providing advice to the Surgeon General and the Chief Professional Officer on professional and personnel issues related to the Dietitian category. The Chair-Elect’s scope of duties and responsibilities are more completely described in the D/N PAC Bylaws. As per the D/N-PAC Charter, selections are based on the nominee’s commitment to public health activities and specified criteria in the charter (e.g., organizational, discipline, gender and minority representation) as determined by the PAC Chair and Chief Dietitian Officer, and approved by the Surgeon General. Self-nominations are being solicited for individuals interested in serving on the D/N PAC for a 2-year term beginning 1 April 2009.
