Corps Officer Serving at U.S. Army’s White Sands Missile Range

In April 2008, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding the detail of officers of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) to the Army, Navy, or Air Force based on the mental health assignment needs identified by DoD’s Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health Affairs.
One of the Corps officers detailed under this MOA is LT Mark Williams, USPHS. LT Williams is serving as the Chief of Social Work and Social Services at the U.S. Army’s White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in New Mexico. On 17 December 2008, the WSMR base newspaper, Missile Ranger, printed an impressive article regarding LT Williams and the DOD/HHS initiative.
