The above date marked another step forward in efforts to modernize the official
personnel order. Personnel orders have been totally formatted making them more informative
and readable (see attachment: Sample
Personnel Order).
Here are some of the highlights of the new personnel orders for active duty officers:
- Heading reflects the Department of Health and Human Services and the Commissioned
Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps).
- The initial information on the personnel order contains the personnel order number,
the officer’s name, and the effective date (information is outside the box of specific
information pertaining to the details of the order).
- The official signature of the Director, Office of Commissioned Corps Operations,
office address and telephone number are included at the bottom of the personnel
order.
- The personnel order form number is PHS-7063.
This newly-formatted personnel order will be mailed to officers being called to
active duty, and to officers who are separating from the Corps. Active duty officers
will continue to receive an e-mail notification when a personnel order is indexed
into the officer’s electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF).
Though the personnel order presents the information in a new and different format
from the legacy system, we feel it is an overall improvement. However, we would
like to hear your prospective on the changes. After you have had an opportunity
to review a personnel order that has been entered in your eOPF, please feel free
to either leave a voice mail message at the Help Desk hotline at 301-594-0961 or
send an e-mail message to cchelpdesk@psc.hhs.gov
