The Acting Surgeon General, RADM Steven Galson, is pleased to announce the selection of the next Chief Professional Officers (CPOs) for the Nurse and Engineer Categories:
RADM Kerry Paige Nesseler is CPO (select) for the Nursing Category.
RADM Nesseler is assigned to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Office of International Health and Commissioned Corps Affairs, where she serves as the Director. Her previous assignment was as the Associate Administrator, Bureau of Health Professions, HRSA, providing leadership for the education and training of the Nation’s primary health care providers. Her tenure as CPO begins 1 November 2009.
CAPT Sven Rodenbeck is CPO (select) for the Engineering Category.
CAPT Rodenbeck is assigned to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), Division of Health Assessment and Consultation, Cooperative Agreement Program Evaluation Branch, where he serves as Deputy Director. His previous assignments were in the Indian Health Service, where he served as a Field Engineer, and in the Environmental Protection Branch, Division of Safety, National Institutes of Health, where he served as an Environmental Engineer and Environmental Compliance Officer. His tenure as CPO begins 1 November 2009 and on that date he will be promoted to the rank of RADM (Lower Half).
RADM Carol Romano and RADM Rick Barror will continue in their roles as CPOs of the Nurse Category and Engineer Category, respectively, until their 4-year terms have been completed. A more formal recognition of their outstanding service to the Corps will be forthcoming.
