Regular Corps Assimilation Update |
The 2004 Regular Corps nominations were confirmed by the Senate on 13 March 2006. Officers nominated and confirmed have begun receiving form PHS-5141-2, “Appointment Affidavit – Regular Corps,” (oath of office), via e-mail. Prior to e-mailing the oath of office, administrative reviews are completed by the Office of Commissioned Corps Operations (OCCO) to ensure each officer complies with medical requirements, basic level of force readiness, and other requirements. After an officer executes the oath of office and returns it to the Assimilation Coordinator, personnel orders will be issued before the end of the year. |
The 2005 Regular Corps nominations appeared in the Congressional Record on 27 July 2006 and were confirmed by the Senate on 21 September 2006. Officers in this group will be reviewed for administrative requirements over the next few months for National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) background investigation, basic readiness, licensure requirements, and medical requirements. Please note: physical qualifications for assimilation include DD-Form-2808, “Report of Medical Examination,” within 5 years of nomination by the President, and DD-Form-2807-1, “Report of Medical History,” within 1-year of nomination. These forms are available on the Commissioned Corps Management Information System (CCMIS) Web site at http://dcp.psc.gov/DCPForms.asp under ‘Medical’. |
The 2006 Assimilation Board met in May 2006. The assimilation nomination package has been forwarded to the Office of the Surgeon General. Officers reviewed by the 2006 Assimilation Board will receive letters within the next few months documenting the results. Officers are required to maintain compliance with all assimilation program requirements throughout the entire process. |
