The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps offers two excellent opportunities for students to serve their country while completing or continuing their education. If you are interested in a public health career, we encourage you to apply to the Junior Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (JRCOSTEP) or Senior Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (SRCOSTEP). Details for these two opportunities are available on the USPHS.gov website's student section.
COSTEP opportunities are available at the federal agencies listed below. All are part of the Department of Health and Human Services, with the exception of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), which is part of the Department of Justice and currently admits the highest number of COSTEP applicants. For the most up-to-date COSTEP information visit the USPHS COSTEP webpage link above.
