Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service

Smoking Cessation

Chair Message

What an incredible journey we are on as part of STUAC.   I am extremely proud of our dedicated team to have made tremendous strides and achievements in public health efforts from Corps-wide efforts on being the first smoke-free uniform service in assisting our officers in smoking cessation in 2013 to our current efforts in educating the youth on the harmful effects of the electronic cigarettes and its various forms. With each step we take, we are driving innovation in tobacco prevention, cessation, research, and education. Our diverse team of dedicated U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) officers bring a wealth of skills to the table, making us a potent force for change. Together, we serve as an extension of the Office of the Surgeon General (OSG) and promote OSG’s health initiatives across the country.

From pioneering the first free tobacco cessation training program for anyone in the nation to crafting OSG-approved presentations on youth vaping awareness and initiating the Surgeon General's Smoking Cessation Initiative - 5 Days (SG Sci-FIve) in community engagements, we're shaping a future free from the harmful effects of commercial tobacco, in all forms. Let's inspire one another to stay engaged, connected, and be proactive in advancing the U.S. Public Health Service's mission.  We welcome you to be part of this incredible journey by joining our Listserv to stay connected, utilize our resources and spreading the word to show support.

Together, we are redefining the health landscape in protecting, promoting, and advancing the health and safety of our nation!

Your Chair,

Jing Li, PharmD, BCPS
