Subsequently on July 1st, 1944, the Public Health Service Act was approved, which authorized the appointment of qualified nurses as Commissioned Officers. In honor of this history, the Nurse Category in collaboration with the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation will be hosting a recognition formal gala to honor and celebrate our visionary pioneers and share how the USPHS nursing is now transforming the future of tomorrow.
