Conversion Process of Current Federal Employee

Current Federal Employees who are working in HHS agencies and are seeking to convert to Commissioned Corps status should consult your supervisor and the Agency Commissioned Corps Liaison for specific guidance on conversion practices.

If you are a Federal applicant in a non-HHS agency, a Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) must be established. MOAs are high level negotiations. The signature authority for the non-HHS entity must be equivalent to the Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH). The non-HHS signature authority will send a Letter of Request to the ASH. If the ASH approves the Letter of Request, negotiations for an MOA will begin.
