Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service

Commission Corps PACE

The Prevention through Active Community Engagement (PACE) program represents the Surgeon General and the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS CC) throughout the nation and overseas. Created in 2013, PACE leverages the expertise of Commissioned Corps officers to provide education about the benefits of prevention in their local communities.  Additionally, PACE serves as an extension of the Office of the Surgeon General (OSG) to provide community outreach for prevention related initiatives developed by the Surgeon General.

PACE’s Surgeon General Education Teams (SGETs) were established in 2018 and provide evidence-based education focused on OSG’s priorities to local communities. SGETs improve the health and safety of the nation through direct community engagement, address health disparities through culturally responsive educational programs, and empower USPHS officers across the Commissioned Corps to serve as a force multiplier in their own communities
