Purpose: The mission of the DoD is to provide the military forces needed to deter war and to protect the security of the Nation. This is accomplished through the coordinated efforts of the defense agencies and military services. Commissioned Corps officers are detailed to DoD facilities to support a range of medical and mental health services, as well as administrative functions.
