Our Mission

The Commissioned Corps Women's Issues Advisory Board (CCWIAB), chartered under the Office of the United States Surgeon General (OSG), employs the voluntary service of United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps to advise the OSG on issues impacting women officers serving in the USPHS. Specifically, the mission of the CCWIAB is to identify and analyze key issues that impact women Public Health Service officers and to develop an action plan to address such issues.

Expectant Parents' Guide has been revised!

Take a look at the updated version of the Expectant Parents' Guide! This version revises the section on Maternity Leave to align with the December 2016 expanded maternity leave policy, alerts readers to TRICARE dental benefits for dependents may change on May 1, 2017, includes a new section on postpartum depression, and updates websites, links, addresses, and contact info.

The Resource Guide for USPHS Officers Getting Married or Getting Divorced, and for Dependents Surviving the Death of a USPHS Officer is an unofficial guide designed to assist officers in the USPHS in navigating and understanding the various policies and resources relevant to each topic. Topics include, but are not limited to, changing your name, enrolling spouse/dependent(s) in benefits, updating Direct Access, tax considerations, transferring educational benefits and survivor benefits. The Guide was prepared by the Junior Officer Advisory Group (JOAG) in collaboration with the Commissioned Corps Women’s Issues Advisory Board (CCWIAB).
