The MWR Family Resource Guide compiles PHS and non-PHS resources and information regarding deployment, permanent change of station, bereavement and retirement. This Guide is very useful for officers and their families!

JOAG Publishes 2016 USPHS Symposium Special Edition of the JOAG Journal

JOAG is happy to announce that the 2016 USPHS Symposium Special Edition of the JOAG Journal has been published and is available for all officers to read. This publication includes hyperlinks; it is best viewed around 78% zoom, and note that photo captions are embedded in the images (hover your cursor over images for the caption to appear). Experienced Officers Needed for JOAG’s Peer-to-Peer Network

The JOAG Peer-to-Peer Networking Program is seeking experienced officers (2+ years) to join this exciting program. This is an opportunity to pair junior officers who have recently graduated from OBC with other junior officers who have 2+ years of experience in the Commissioned Corps. This program connects new junior officers with more experienced peer level officers, promotes camaraderie, and facilitates information exchange. We are currently in need of experienced officers (2+ years) from the following categories: • Dietitian • EHO • Engineer • Medical • Physical Therapist • Scientist. As an experienced officer, you will have the opportunity to assist new officers as they begin their new PHS careers. Experienced officers will provide new officers timely, factual advice and lessons learned from their first years in the PHS. Visit the Peer-to-Peer Network webpage for additional information. The PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation (COF) will be working with junior officers to produce the Koop Speaker Series. The Koop Speaker Series will highlight a variety of public health issues. JOAG Scrapbook Highlighting Junior Officers!

The JOAG Communications and Publications (CPC) Outreach Subcommittee developed a Flickr photo album to showcase the impact and diversity of roles, missions and activities of junior officers. The album is accessible through the Resources - JOAG Scrapbook webpage. If you are attending the COF Symposium or have your own junior officer in action photos to share, please be on the lookout for the next call-for-photos in July. We will be seeking photos and stories from junior officers that highlight your agency work, deployment experiences, and other PHS activities in which you have been involved.

On February 26, 2016, CAPT Sara Newman was selected as the Junior Officer Advisory Group (JOAG) Senior Advisor! CAPT Newman brings with her a distinguished career of service to the USPHS, throughout which she has been a consistent supporter and mentor of junior officers. The Outreach Committee is pleased to announce the launch of the JOAG online store, including our new, updated core values coin! In an effort to help show PHS pride and foster among our officers, JOAG offers the following PHS merchandise, with proceeds going to C. Everett Koop Living Legacy Fund, which funds scholarships for junior Commissioned Corps officers to attend the USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium.
