Everyone is Welcome!

Welcome to the official website of the Junior Officer Advisory Group (JOAG); a website dedicated to the Junior Officers of the United States Public Health Service.

Any junior officer at the rank of LCDR/O4 and below who participates in the JOAG meetings and serves on one of JOAG's committees or workgroups is considered an active participant of the JOAG. There is no formal process for becoming a general member.  If you are interested in leadership opportunities in JOAG please look here.

Subscribe to the JOAG Listserv

In addition to participating in our meetings and committees we also want to encourage you to join our Listserv, as this is the primary way we communicate with our fellow junior officers. To view the JOAG Listserv welcome letter click here [PDF]

If you unsubscribe from the JOAG listserv by clicking the link below, please make sure you click “Unsubscribe (JOAG)”, not “Unsubscribe (All Lists)”, because the “Unsubscribe (All Lists)” option will unsubscribe you from all lists that NIH supports, and you may not want to do that.

Experienced Officers Needed for JOAG’s Peer-to-Peer Network

The JOAG Peer-to-Peer Networking Program is seeking experienced officers (2+ years) to join this exciting program. This is an opportunity to pair junior officers who have recently graduated from OBC with other junior officers who have 2+ years of experience in the Commissioned Corps. This program connects new junior officers with more experienced peer level officers, promotes camaraderie, and facilitates information exchange. We are currently in need of experienced officers (2+ years) from the following categories: • Dietitian • EHO • Engineer • Medical • Physical Therapist • Scientist. As an experienced officer, you will have the opportunity to assist new officers as they begin their new PHS careers. Experienced officers will provide new officers timely, factual advice and lessons learned from their first years in the PHS. Visit the Peer-to-Peer Network webpage for additional information. The webpage also includes the required enrollment forms. Thank you and we hope to hear from you soon!
