Mentoring Opportunities
Welcome to the Commissioned Corps Officer Mentoring Program.
Having trained, competent, and well-informed leaders who are capable of carrying out the goals of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps) is crucial to the Corps’ success. Mentoring programs are a means for officers to share their experiences with their fellow officers with the aim of helping them to develop into strong leaders and to advance their careers.
Each category in the Corps officers a mentoring program. In each of these programs, mentors provide mentees with one-on-one career guidance to include: career assignments and mobility, awards, deployments, curriculum vitae review, and recommendations to enhance promotion potential.

Dental Category Mentoring Program
The DePAC has established a category specific Mentoring Program for officers who have been in the Commissioned Corps less than eight years. New officers will have the opportunity to draw from the experience of an officer with a similar background from within their agency. Officers can learn the essentials of uniform issues, military courtesy and personnel issues as a new officer. For officers having cleared probation and having learned the primary job, Mentor/Protégé matches that investigate other agencies or career opportunities will be possible.
