This category-specific counseling is required pursuant to CCI 332.01 and provides opportunity for senior HSOs to assist HSOs who may need assistance with career development, general advice, and promotion preparation. The goal is to help officers understand what they need to do to improve their chances for advancement in the coming promotion year and to focus on broader professional development principles. Counselees include officers who scored in the lowest quartile of officers eligible for temporary promotion during the last promotion cycle. Counselors are typically senior O-6 HSOs.
