Nomination Instructions
Applicants
Any active duty USPHS Commissioned Officer managing or working on Health Information Technology initiatives may be nominated. Also, the officer must have an IT background (Note: As stated in the Commissioned Corps Policy (CCI 231.03 EFFECTIVE DATE: 6 May 2011) - A candidate must possess a qualifying bachelor or master's degree in computer science, information systems or an information technology related discipline.
One awardee will be selected each year. Self-nominations are permissible with the exceptions of the current Chair, Co-Chair and the Awards Subcommittee Chair of the HITPAG during the nomination period. Nominated applicants must meet Basic Readiness Standards prior to nomination.
Nomination Criteria
A complete nomination package comprised of the nomination form , a narrative, the applicants CV summary sheet, and screen print of the applicants Readiness must be submitted by March 18, 2022 with a supporting narrative that references specific accomplishment(s) in the past year from January 2021 - December 2021.
Narrative:
Provide a supportive narrative that addresses the following criteria [using 12-point Times New Roman font, one inch margins, and not more than one page]:
- Describing the nominee’s contributions in health IT, including how the Officer’s actions impacted and benefited the USPHS and Agency
- Demonstrate the Officer’s outstanding leadership in the field of health IT
- Identifying specific accomplishment(s), beyond routine job responsibilities, that impacted health IT within the USPHS
Selection and Award Process
The HITPAG Awards Subcommittee comprised of the current Chair, Co- Chair, and the Awards Sub-Committee Chair for the HITAG will select the Officer of the Year. The award will be presented at the annual USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium. All costs, if attending the Symposium, will be the responsibility of the awardee.
Nomination packages must include:
- One Page Narrative
- Cover Sheet including Nominees name, Title, Rank, PHS number, telephone number, and e-mail address
- Curriculum Vitae
- Screen capture verifying basic readiness from RedDog Self Service Site at https://dcp.psc.gov/RedDOG
