CDR Simleen Kaur

Biologist, Food and Drug Administration: Silver Spring, MD
CDR Simleen Kaur was Commissioned into the United Stated Public Health Service as a LT in January of 2012. CDR Kaur has a Masters in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University and Bachelors in Biology from the University of Delhi (India). She is currently stationed in Food and Drug Administration, under Center for Biologics and Evaluation and Research, Office of Compliance and Biologics Quality. She serves as a Team Leader for Laboratory of Microbiology In-vivo Testing and Standards where she manages production and distribution of CBER Reference materials used in potency testing of biological products such as vaccines prior to release to public. In addition, she reviews microbiological test methods used in the lot release of biological products as submitted in Biological License Applications and Supplements to ensure they are validated in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations and different pharmacopeia requirements. As a Team Leader, she ensures that her laboratory functions are performed in accordance with ISO accredited quality-controlled requirements.
CDR Kaur has been an active participant of the HSPAC in various capacities since she was first commissioned and served three years (2016 -2018) as a HSPAC Voting Member. She has also served two terms as BASPAG voting member as well as chair of its Membership Subcommittee. CDR Kaur has served as a voting member with APAOC (2016 -2018) as well where she spearheaded the preparation and execution of APAOC Leadership Summit two years in a row. Additionally, CDR Kaur has been part of Regional Incident Support Team- National Capital Region (RIST-NCR) team since 2012, deployed in various capacities and serve as a chair of Team’s Policy and Recruitment Committee.
2019 HSPAC Vision
CDR Kaur’s vision for 2019 is to improve HSOs’ operations by increasing Partnership among the groups, advancing career Progression for volunteers and improving Preparedness by focusing on:
- Increased collaboration, enhanced communications, and recognition between HSPAC subcommittees and professional advisory groups;
- Enhancing mentoring and building strong stakeholder relationships by proactive engagement for career progression; and
- Advanced education and training to enhance HSOs’ professional competencies to improve preparedness.
CDR Kaur aims to leverage the work done by the previous leadership. With a focus on teamwork and collaboration, CDR Kaur is confident these priorities will strengthen and advance our HSOs.
CDR Kaur’s belief in continuous improvement will drive incremental innovations in our operations to meet the continuously changing needs of the Commissioned Corps. CDR Kaur looks forward to serving this position with dedication, sincerity, and humility and seeks everyone’s cooperation and support to make 2019 a flagship year for our Health Services Officers..
