The Membership Committee meets the third Friday of odd numbered months from 1400-1500 EST unless otherwise noted.  Call Information:  Phone Number: (855) 447-5646  Passcode: 8139094#

The Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting and facilitating the selection process for new JOAG voting members each year as well as increasing JOAG's general membership. Interest in becoming a voting member of JOAG does NOT preclude you from participating in the committee. During the coming year, we will focus on increasing the effectiveness of our current subcommittees and working toward getting more junior officers involved with JOAG than ever before, which will allow JOAG to more effectively address the ever evolving needs of junior officers in the Commissioned Corps. We're always looking to develop fresh ideas that will help us meet our mission. Come be a part of a group where your ideas will be heard! Current Subcommittees include the following:

Voting Membership: This subcommittee facilitates the annual selection process for new JOAG voting members.

Standard Operating Procedures: This subcommittee reviews and updates the JOAG Membership Committee’s SOPs, as needed, for consistency and formatting. The current JOAG Membership Committee SOP is located on the JOAG Governing Documents webpage.

Meet and Greet: This subcommittee organizes and develops opportunities through which junior officers in a city/region can be introduced to JOAG, learn about JOAG volunteer opportunities, network, discuss issues relating to the Commissioned Corps, and be provided with professional support and advice.

Officer Involvement and Outreach: This subcommittee increases awareness of and participation in JOAG among recently commissioned junior officers. Each month, email messages are sent to junior officers celebrating their one-year anniversary as an active duty officer with the USPHS Commissioned Corps. Additional projects include contacting officers when they are promoted to O-3 and O-4 to encourage them to join JOAG if they are not already a member, sending welcome information to junior officers when they join the JOAG list serv, and coordinating with the Meet & Greet Subcommittee to contact officers interested in JOAG, but not already actively involved.

Listserv: This subcommittee maintains a spreadsheet of JOAG listserv members, and coordinates with the Meet & Greet and Officer Involvement and Outreach Committees to ensure that new and interested officers are added to the JOAG listserv and receive information on JOAG opportunities.

Mission: To facilitate the annual selection of JOAG voting members through the nomination and appointment processes outlined in Article VI of the JOAG Bylaws and to increase the general membership of JOAG, as established in the JOAG General SOP, Article II.

If you are interested in joining or have any specific questions regarding the Membership Committee, please feel free to contact the Co-Chairs.
