Under the Corps’ new recruitment process the focus is on recruiting and commissioning the best-of-the-best and meeting the needs of the Agencies. The Division of Commissioned Corps Personnel and Readiness (DCCPR) Recruitment Branch has highly qualified viable applicants looking for assignments. Over 170 applicants have been successfully appointed by the board and are in need of an assignment. This includes approximately 40 physicians and 40 dentists. DCCPR is actively marketing these highly qualified applicants to the Chief Professional Officers (CPO) and Agency Liaisons. Please contact your CPO or Agency Liaison to assist in matching applicants to a position.

Pharmacist Applications

On July 7, 2014, DCCPR opened the general duty pharmacist application process for assignment opportunities specifically with the Indian Health Service and the Bureau of Prisons. One hundred candidates are approved to continue through the appointment board process. These candidates will now progress through the appointment board process.

Registered Nurse Applications

Beginning September 15, 2014, DCCPR will open the general duty nurse application process for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree-prepared Registered Nurses, including Clinical Nurse Specialists. Candidates will select specific assignment opportunities within certain agencies and Departments as part of the process. To begin the general duty application process, candidates should contact the Commissioned Corps Recruitment Call Center at 800-279-1605. Open Applications for Prior JRCOSTEP Participants

Beginning in October 2014, the general duty application process will be open to prior Junior Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (JrCOSTEP) officers who began their JrCOSTEP tour in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. These prior JrCOSTEP participants must meet general duty commissioning appointment standards. The process is open to prior JrCOSTEP participants, regardless of their professional category.
