The USPHS Commissioned Corps is committed to our mission to protect, promote, and advance the health and safety of the nation. Public Health Service officers are trained and equipped to provide crucial public health leadership, assist with policy development, advance innovation and science, provide essential care services and respond to national and global public health emergencies. Through our Active Duty Regular Corps, our Public Health Response Strike Team (PHERST) and our Ready Reserve Corps, we remain responsive and available to rapidly deploy in the service of health.

Welcome to the Assignment Section Information Website!
The Assignments Team has a vital mission to manage the assignments and career progression of Corps officers. Our goal is to deliver excellent customer service to our stakeholders and customers by providing up to date and accurate information and support to our stakeholders who include but are not limited to: Chief Professional Officers (CPO’s), Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) chairs and members, various HHS OPDIVs, Non-HHS OPDIVs, active duty Corps officers, beneficiaries, as well as others.
The team consists of a dedicated and diverse group of Corps officers and civilian staff who take pride in carrying out the following responsibilities:
- Prepare and review personnel orders for officers currently on active duty including:
- Transfers
- Position Updates
- Temporary Duty assignments
- Amendments to personnel orders
- Cancellation of personnel orders
- Prior Service Data Management
- Duty Station Address Changes
- ADMIN Code Changes
- Board Certified Pay (Physician’s Only)
- Name Changes
- Extension/Removal of Limited Tours
- Retirements (Voluntary & Mandatory)
- Separations/Terminations (Voluntary, Involuntary, Deaths)
