As Public Health Service Officers and America’s Health Responders, we stand ready to preserve public health and national security during national or global health emergencies. Our mission is to be out the door as soon as requested, as this is an “all hands on deck” situation. All Corps officers were placed on involuntary deploy or "alert" status effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020, irrespective of the 'on-call month' status. Under Commissioned Corps Directive 121.02, "Deployment and Readiness," as directed by Assistant Secretary for Health, Commissioned Corps Headquarters will deploy Commissioned Corps officers assigned to HHS OpDivs/StaffDivs, either voluntarily or involuntarily and without supervisory approval, who are not considered mission critical, for deployments, under the current National Emergency. Mission critical requests sent to CCHQ are not final until the request is approved by the CCHQ Director as per the POM 821.76 ”Deployment Procedures”. An officer with a non-HHS organization may be deployed in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement/Understanding between the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and the non-HHS organization.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)
The Curriculum Vitae (CV) is the best place to present a concise picture of your entire career and to convey information not reflected on the Promotion Information Report (PIR). It is very important that a current CV is in your Official Personnel Folder (eOPF). An absent, outdated, or improperly formatted CV will make you less competitive for promotion.
When uploading your CV, please note that only the most recently submitted CV document is retained in the eOPF. If a CV coversheet is used, it, must be included as page one (1) of the CV. (i.e., Do NOT upload the coversheet separate from the CV or it will be the only document that appears as your CV in the eOPF).
It is essential that you use the category-specific CV format, as it will assist board members in quickly locating information to score specific precepts. For recommended CV formats refer to your PAC website, contact your Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) Chairperson (PDF, 348kb) and/or contact your Chief Professional Officer (CPO) (PDF, 19kb). Additional contact information may be found on the CCMIS website under the “About CCHQ” tab. Referring to the Category Benchmarks is also critical when you develop your CV.
Your CV will not be available to the Promotion Boards unless it is uploaded through eDOC-U no later than the deadline listed on the Promotion checklist.
NOTE: It is highly recommended that you submit documentation of claims made on your CV to your eOPF. For example:
- Interim transcripts, if working on an advanced degree, or final transcripts if you have completed an additional degree beyond your qualifying degree. For instructions for submitting transcripts, refer to the eOPF FAQs, Continuing Education section
- Certificates or letters or appreciation for PAC, Work Group, or community activities
CCHQ will NOT accept photographs, publication reprints, and program agendas for inclusion in the eOPF; this information is most effectively documented in writing through the CV.

- Select "Commissioned Corps Issuance System" from the link bar at the top of this page.
- Click on "Table of Contents."
- Click on the "+" next to "Book 3: Personnel Management."
- Click on Chapter 3: Promotions and Reductions.
- Click the "+" next to the topic of interest related to promotions. The section title will turn blue.
- Double click the blue section title and refer to the policy governing this process.
