  Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  The CV is an overview of your entire career and is used to convey information not reflected on the Promotion Information Report (PIR). It is very important that a current CV is in your electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) and Officer Promotion Package Verification System (OPPVS). An absent, outdated, or improperly formatted CV will make you less competitive for promotion. When uploading your CV, please note the following:

  • Only the most recently submitted CV (based on the document date) is pulled from your eOPF to your OPPVS
  • The CV cover page should be the first page of your CV
  • The document must be saved and uploaded as one PDF document

  Beginning with Promotion Year 2027, all officers are required to use the updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) format. This update aligns with the Career Progression Guidance, which replaced previous promotion benchmarks beginning in PY 2027. It also reflects the new promotion precepts outlined in POM 821.87, "Promotion Precepts and Criteria."

  In collaboration with the Chief Professional Officers, Commissioned Corps Headquarters updated the standardized CV format to support a clear, concise, and consistent promotion document. All officers, regardless of category and grade, must use the new standardized CV format. The new CV format assists promotion board members in quickly locating information to score specific precepts.
  
  

  UPDATE: 10/01/2026

  Officers are strongly encouraged to ensure that all career information is documented in the section of the CV that most appropriately reflects the nature of the experience or accomplishment. Accurate placement of information facilitates the promotion board's review and enables board members to efficiently identify relevant qualifications, leadership experience, professional development, and deployment readiness.
  
  Although flexibility in the CV format is permitted, officers should exercise careful judgment and make every effort to document accomplishments, professional growth, leadership activities, skill development, and deployability in the most appropriate section of the updated CV. Doing so will help ensure that the officer's record is presented in a clear, organized, and comprehensive manner for consideration by the promotion board.

  Your CV will not be available to the Promotion Boards unless it is uploaded through eOPF Document Uploader as a PDF no later than the deadline listed on the promotion checklist.

  When uploading the CV using the eOPF Document Uploader, please be advised:

  Does NOT Include:

  • Civilian CVs
  • Résumés
  • Category-specific CVs
  • Promotion CVs used during or before PY 2026

  Document Date: Date listed on the Promotion CV or December 31 of that year.
  
  Please Note: The Officer Promotion Package Verification System (OPPVS) or promotion folder will pull the Promotion CV based on the document date, rather than the last document uploaded.
  
  For example: An officer uploads two CV PDFs prior to the deadline. The first document uploaded on 12/20/2026 with document date of 12/20/2026, and the second document uploaded 12/31/2026 with document date of 12/01/2026. The document that will pull into the OPPV is the first document uploaded due to the document date of 12/20/2026.
  
  If an officer uses the same document date for each upload, the most recent upload (with the same document date) will pull into the OPPVS.
