The USPHS Commissioned Corps is committed to our mission to protect, promote, and advance the health and safety of the nation. Public Health Service officers are trained and equipped to provide crucial public health leadership, assist with policy development, advance innovation and science, provide essential care services and respond to national and global public health emergencies. Through our Active Duty Regular Corps, our Public Health Response Strike Team (PHERST) and our Ready Reserve Corps, we remain responsive and available to rapidly deploy in the service of health.

Promotion Information
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
The CV is an overview of your entire career and is used to convey information not reflected on the Promotion Information Report (PIR). It is very important that a current CV is in your Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) and Officer Promotion Package Verification System (OPPVS). An absent, outdated, or improperly formatted CV will make you less competitive for promotion. When uploading your CV, please note that only the most recently submitted CV is pulled from your eOPF to your OPPVS, and the CV cover page should be merged with your CV in the same document.
In collaboration with our Chief Professional Officers, Commissioned Corps Headquarters (CCHQ) created a standardized CV format for use by all 11 categories and 5 Promotion Category Groups. All officers, regardless of category and grade, must use the standardized CV format. The CV assists board members in quickly locating information to score specific precepts. You may access guidance on the CV cover page, CV body and continuing education summary sheet by clicking on the links below.

Your CV will not be available to the Promotion Boards unless it is uploaded through eDOC-U no later than the deadline listed on the promotion checklist.
Promotion Instructions are available on the Commissioned Corps Issuance System (CCIS).
- Select "Commissioned Corps Issuance System" from the link bar at the top of this page.
- Click on "Table of Contents."
- Click on the "+" next to "Book 3: Personnel Management."
- Click on Chapter 3: Promotions and Reductions.
- Click the "+" next to the topic of interest related to promotions. The section title will turn blue.
- Double click the blue section title and refer to the policy governing this process.
