Promotion Information
Promotion Information Report (PIR)
The PIR is a succinct “real-time” summary of verified data about an officer, as documented in DCCPR’s data system. The PIR is located in the eOPF and is used by Promotion Boards to obtain an overview of an officer’s career within the Corps. Because the PIR contains information relevant to all promotion precepts, officers are strongly encouraged to review their PIR to ensure that all information is accurate.
Information on the PIR includes:
- General dates,
- Current billet title and position grade,
- Creditable service toward retirement (including military and creditable civil service time),
- Awards authorized for wear on the uniform (Corps and military),
- COER ratings for the last 5 years, and
- Corps assignment history.
- Readiness information.
If an officer finds an error on the PIR, he/she must submit a copy of the current PIR to DCCPR, no later than the deadline on the Promotion Checklist, with the requested changes and the appropriate substantiating documentation. Do not email PI:
Review and submit corrections to the appropriate resource email for PIR only. (Do not email PI):
- Awards:COAP@hhs.gov
- COERs:phscoers@hhs.gov
- Licensure::phslicensure.gov
- Officer information and Assignments:PHSCCAssignments@hhs.gov
Changes cannot be made without official documentation. Officers must not provide information or documentation about areas that are not reflected on the PIR. Please do not contact DCCPR if the data on the PIR is correct.
Please note that the Officer Information Summary (OIS) used by some organizations is not the same document as the PIR; DCCPR does not use the OIS and has no responsibility for the information contained therein. Officers must review the PIR before requesting changes.
Important note for officers with prior military service: Officers who have prior military service are strongly encouraged to verify that the military service time on the PIR is correct. Prior military service is a factor in determining total time in service for promotion and retirement purposes. Also, if you are missing prior military awards, be sure that DCCPR has a copy of your DD214 and reference the Commissioned Officer’s Awards Program website for information on what to do.
If you do not find the answers to your questions on this website, please send an e-mail to: PHSPromotions@hhs.gov.
