Readiness
Deployment Preparation Plan
This is a new annual Readiness Requirement. The required form and tools are now available. The U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps requires all officers to complete a Deployment Preparation Plan (DPP). This plan requires officers to proactively plan for the care of their family, children and personal and professional affairs prior to deployments and other duty related absences. By anticipating deployment challenges that will arise due to officer’s absence, officers can focus fully on their mission knowing that loved ones and home station responsibilities are well taken care of.
Officers are required to complete and submit an initial DPP annually by 31 March 2023. A DPP is valid for twelve months and is required to be updated when a change in circumstances occurs (i.e. birth of a child, adoption, divorce, dependent parent). You are required to utilize the official DPP form; please refer to the form on this page. The first readiness check will be performed on 1 April 2023.
LOCATION OF DPP:
You can find the Deployment Preparation Form and other helpful documents in the links below.
Most common oversights on an uploaded DPP submission:
- Incomplete caregiver sections.
- Listing a caregiver that will not be available (i.e. active duty officer).
- Scanning errors or illegible scans
- Missing acknowledgements and signatures
- Form is not dated
HOW TO SUBMIT THE DPP:
Officers must scan the document into a SINGLE PDF with all pages oriented in the proper direction. You can use a scanner setting of 200 d.p.i., if needed. The file must be uploaded through the Readiness section of eDOC-U using the document name, “Deployment Preparation Plan.” Please see the FAQ for further details.
If you have immediate concerns or questions regarding Deployment Preparation Plan, please review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page and applicable policy. If you still have questions about developing a DPP, please contact Corps Care at PHSCorpsCare@hhs.gov. For questions about Readiness please contact RDB at PHSReadiness@hhs.gov.
