Scoresheets

Review your promotion scoresheet which will appear within the “Confidential Documents” section of your eOPF within 48 hours of promotion results being released
Look for any suggestions to improve at the bottom of the scoresheet. Canned comments are organized by precept. If three or more board members selected the same canned comment, it will appear. Not all officers will receive feedback as some board members choose not to provide feedback
Compare your precept scores to the average precept scores for your category and grade. For any precepts where your scores were below the average, work to improve that specific precept. View the promotion benchmarksand improve the factors within the precept where you were furthest away from the average

Mentorship

Arrange for a meeting with Chief Professional Officer (CPO), Professional Advisory Committee (PAC), or mentor to discuss issues specific to your packet and how you can improve for future promotion cycles
Schedule a meeting with your supervisor to discuss work plans, expectations, and performance
Work through your chain of command and with your Commissioned Corps Agency Liaison to discuss the Reviewing Official’s Statement
Reach out to officers who recently promoted in your category and grade for guidance on how to improve
Consider obtain a mentor outside your agency and category to review your promotion documents to ensure the information is clearly demonstrating how you are working above and beyond your current grade

Ensure all documents are visible within your Officer Promotion Package Verification System (OPPVS)
The five main documents promotion boards review are:

Be aware of the visual presentation of documents within OPPVS. The CV and Officer’s Statement should be organized and well-written. More information is not necessarily better; it can be overwhelming to the board members
Review the current Promotion Benchmarks
Always remember it is your responsibility to ensure documents and information are submitted by posted deadlines. Do not wait until the last minute to review guidelines and deadlines
