OBC training is a two-week course of study for new calls to active duty to the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (Corps). Officers are provided the foundational information and resources necessary to meaningfully contribute within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Commissioned Corps of the USPHS, and more broadly as a uniformed services member. OBC establishes a foundation of knowledge and training on career development, uniformed service customs and courtesies, force readiness and deployment, leadership, and other essential areas in preparation for a Corps career.
