Surgeon General Announces eDOC-U Process for eOPF and Immunizations

Dear Commissioned Corps Officers,

During my time as Surgeon General, I have had the honor to meet many of you and discuss your ideas about how Commissioned Corps Headquarters (CCHQ) can better serve you. One common concern has been the process of faxing documents for electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) submission. As you may recall during the 2016 U.S. Public Health Service Scientific and Training Symposium, I announced that we would take steps to address this outdated system.

It is therefore with great pleasure that I announce the roll-out of the electronic Document Upload (eDOC-U). The eDOC-U is a new feature added to the CCIMS website, http://ccmis.usphs.gov/ccmis/, and starting August 15th, eDOC-U will provide the ability to submit eOPF documents by electronic upload. This new feature will replace the current eOPF and immunization fax lines, creating a more convenient, modern, and accountable process.

During the initial roll-out, officers will be able to upload 13 different types of documents such as professional certifications, certificates of appreciation, CV’s, and immunizations. Tomorrow, CCHQ will send you additional guidance outlining the various eDOC-U submissions, a user guide, and available webinar training dates. Please review the guidance, become familiar with the new eDOC-U feature, and share the news with other officers.

This is one of many steps we are taking to improve CCHQ business processes with a strong focus and commitment to provide better service to you, our valued officers. CCHQ is currently working on next steps to allow eDOC-U Licensure submission. However, this function will not be available until later this fall. For now, please continue to fax all licensure documents as usual.

I would like to thank all Corps officers for their patience leading up to this long awaited transition. I also want to thank our dedicated CCHQ staff for all the preparation that has gone into making this improvement possible.
