Renewal of Professional Licensure and Board Certification Submissions goes Digital!!
It’s true! Licensure and Board Certifications should now be submitted through electronic Document Upload (eDOC-U). This marks the end of all mandatory document submissions by fax to Commissioned Corps Headquarters (CCHQ) for all current active duty officers!
Licensure submissions are only for Category Professional Licensure (required as a Condition of Service and a requirement to retain your commission). Your primary licensure information will no longer update in Direct Access, but will display on your Promotion Information Report (PIR) only. If you are licensed in multiple states, make sure your primary license has a check mark in the box marked “primary” when uploading your license in eDOC-U. Make sure secondary licenses DO NOT have a check mark in the “primary” box.
If you do not see your license in the eDOC-U license type drop-down menu, it is probably not a category professional license or it is considered a Board Certification. Board Certifications are a separate document type in eDOC-U. Board certifications are used for such credentials as BPS for Pharmacists, Internal Medicine Certification for Providers, and other recognized accredited professional board certifications. If the Board Certification qualifies for special pay, follow the compensation requirements for document submission in addition to uploading the document in eDOC-U.
Remember to always submit your new license before it expires. Licenses are checked and validated by a licensure specialist before posting to your PIR. Waiting until the last minute will not allow time for processing and might impact your retention in the Corps, special pay, Readiness compliance status, and promotion potential.
